Device Rollout

Dear Parents,

We are truly delighted to have the privilege of working with your children each day, and are excited for all that the 2018-19 school year will bring.

On Monday, August 27, 2018 Hilton Head Island Elementary School will be distributing one-to-one devices to all of our students in grade levels 1-5. Attached you will find a copy of Beaufort County School District’s (BCSD) Connect2Learn Mobile Device Agreement form. Each student must turn this form in, signed by parent/guardian and student, to their home base teacher prior to using any technology while at school.  Please feel free to send this completed form in with your child on the first day of school.

As you prepare your child at home to receive their school device, please help us to communicate school expectations for appropriate and productive device use by reviewing with the children the BCSD Connect2Learn Mobile Device Student and Parent Handbook. This document is available at the school district website at the Instructional Services Department page, at the Technology link.

Students in grade levels 1-2 will be issued Apple iPad Air devices for one-to-one use while at school. As in years past, students of these primary grade levels will not bring devices home. They will be charged in the classroom each evening and utilized in the school only. Students in grades 1-2 do not have a required usage fee.

Students in grade levels 3-5 will be issued HP laptop devices for one-to-one use at school and at home. Students of grades 3-5 will not be permitted to bring devices home until a $20 usage fee is paid for each student to which a device is issued. Payment may be made by check (payable to Hilton Head Island Elementary School), with cash or online at the BCSD website. The Online School Payment portal can be accessed from the Parent page on the district website.  If you select to pay online, please send a note to your child’s teacher once school starts informing them of this so that we may track and record your payment.

We thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to meet the needs of each and every student. If you have questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to call school administration at 843-342-4100.
